New Ascension Parish Courthouse Makes Debut

New Ascension Parish Courthouse Makes Debut 5

On April 29, 2021, Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment, Sheriff Bobby Webre, Clerk of Court Bridget Hanna, and many other officials and community members gathered to cut a red ribbon in front of the new Ascension Parish Courthouse.

The new courthouse houses the current and future requirements of the Ascension Parish Clerk of Court, Ascension Parish Court, and the 23rd Judicial District Court. In addition, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gonzales Police Department have a Fines Collection station located near the Parish Courtroom. The three-story, 103,000 SF building has a total of eight courtrooms and features a large glass lobby. Through several meetings with project stakeholders, security was identified as a high priority and became a major defining driver for the courthouse design. Clear separations of public and inmate travel within the building is well defined with no cross-over of inmate, judicial and law enforcement staff, and public circulation. Glass is strategically used throughout the interior, providing added security and preventing the passage of contraband to those in custody.

Lemoine delivered this project using the Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) process, managing the project with the owner’s budget, schedule, and other priorities driving all decisions. Also, Lemoine utilized LEAN construction practices to increase efficiency which allowed for the project to be delivered within an aggressive schedule.

Congratulations to the Ascension Parish community on the completion of this remarkable project! We were honored to work with you and look forward to building more with you in the future.
