Lemoine Celebrates Groundbreaking on LSU’s Business Education Complex

The Lemoine Company celebrated groundbreaking ceremonies on the Louisiana State University Business Education Complex on the Baton Rouge campus.

The memorable ceremony was attended by a large crowd of guests, including dignitaries Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden, and LSU Chancellor Michael Martin.

Hosted by Martin and E. J. Ourso College Dean, Eli Jones, the event took place on the project site at what was the parking lot east of Patrick F. Taylor Hall (formerly CEBA).

“We made this historic investment because it was a tremendous step to strengthen the future of our flagship university,” Jindal said. “Indeed, this groundbreaking marks an important commitment to helping LSU develop into a highly competitive institution rivaling the very best universities in the world.  This project is truly a partnership between the private sector and the public sector—and it demonstrates our shared vision of producing first-class entrepreneurs of the next generation right here in Louisiana.”

In November 2009, Jindal announced the state’s commitment of $30 million in capital outlay funds for the facility, which immediately authorized the opening of the construction bid process.  The winning bid was submitted by Lemoine, whose last project on campus was the Cox Communications Center for Student Athletes.

The $39.9 million project consists of the construction of four new structural steel buildings totaling approximately 156,385 sf which will serve to educate the best and brightest young people of the state of Louisiana.  Its architecture will stand out amongst the other buildings on campus.

The new complex will hold classroom space for undergraduate students, graduate students, a large public space with café and faculty dining, faculty offices and support spaces, an auditorium, and offices for administrative staff.

Lemoine is proud to partner with Brasfield & Gorrie and Joint Venture architects Coleman Partners, Architects/IKON.5 and is appreciative of the support from the LSU community

Construction is due to be complete in December of 2011.

Lemoine Celebrates Transportation Center Groundbreaking

The final phase of the Rosa Parks Transportation Center held its groundbreaking ceremonies on Tuesday, January 19, in downtown Lafayette.  The two-story, 41,000-square-foot facility will house the U.S. Postal Service and the City-Parish Traffic and Transportation Department.  The project is expected to take about 18 months to complete at a cost of about $8.1 million, 85% of which came from federal dollars.  Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel said the project will serve as “a continuation of the redevelopment of downtown Lafayette.”  The old 8,000-square-foot building, which houses the downtown post office and portions of the traffic department, will be demolished once the new facility is completed.  The center will be part of a complex that already includes a train depot and a city bus station that opened in 2004.

Lemoine Project Recognized for Early Steel Detailing

When Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, La., decided to build its new 378,000 sq.-ft, six-level replacement hospital and 16,000 sq.-ft central energy plant with a $211 million construction budget and overall construction schedule that would allow for only five months to erect 3,000 tons of structural steel, the design team knew that a significant challenge lay ahead. Lemoine Fundraiser Exceeds Expectations

The Lemoine Company’s Built to Serve fundraising committee would like to share our gratitude for each donation made to the Treats for Troops campaign.  When we began the drive for Treats for Troops, our goal was to work to fill 40 boxes with treats for our Freedom Fighters during the 2009 holiday season.  With all of the generous donations and gracious efforts we were able to send 175 boxes!  We received so many donations, that we’ve decided to save some of the non-perishable items and send more boxes in the early spring.  Thanks to all of you who made this drive a success.  We hope to have your support again in the spring.
