October Wellness Champion – Travis Priour

We’d like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion of the Month for October – Travis Priour!

For those of you who don’t know, Travis started with Lemoine in January 2019 as a Project Manager. He is currently working on our Lafayette Airport project.

To stay healthy, Travis makes healthy choices for meals and snacks, “though I do throw in a cheat meals here and there”. He avoids eating out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Travis and his wife cook healthy dinner recipes 5-6 days a week to which he brings leftovers for lunch the following day. He can better control his portions and the food he eats by having it prepared in advance. He also avoids soda and caffeine and chooses to drink water, Gatorade (low/zero sugar) and milk.

When asking Travis what motivates him to stay active and healthy, he says:

  1. to prolong my lifespan and be there for my wife and kids as long as I can
  2. stress management
  3. mental sharpness and drive
  4. maintaining personal discipline that transfers over into other tasks during the day
  5. overall feeling of great well-being, self-esteem, and the enjoyment of exercise
  6. being physically able to accomplish any demanding tasks
  7. lower medical costs and reduced health risks caused by poor diet and exercise
  8. by putting in the work, I don’t feel guilty for splurging on good food (sometimes unhealthy) that I enjoy

When asking Travis to give advice about living a healthy lifestyle, he says “The benefits of living healthy far outweigh the risks of not that it would be better decision to choose to, anyway someone could, develop a positive approach to diet and exercise if they have not.  Referring back to my list above, those are only a few of the many benefits that come from living a healthy lifestyle”.

Awesome job, Travis! We are so proud of you! Keep striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

The Diocese of Lake Charles Selects DCMC Partners and The Lemoine Company to Assist with Hurricane Laura Recovery Efforts

The Firms Will Provide Broad Services Focused On Managing Recovery Efforts And Securing Funding
The Diocese of Lake Charles, which experienced substantial losses across dozens of facilities due to Hurricane Laura two weeks ago, announced today that it has selected DCMC Partners and The Lemoine Company to assist them with their recovery efforts. The firms, which have a long history providing similar services both in Louisiana and nationally, will provide the Diocese with project management support and will be responsible for overseeing and executing Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded projects resulting from Hurricane Laura.
Many of the parishes in the Diocese of Lake Charles sustained severe damages to their facilities as a result of the hurricane. “The breadth and depth of losses within the Diocese are astounding,” said Stephanie Rodrigue, the Director of Temporal Goods at the Diocese of Lake Charles. “Initial estimates are just beginning to come in, but we think the Diocese experienced at least $60-$100M in losses, maybe more.” The list of known damages include: the destruction of five of the parishes and four others experiencing major damage; the loss of facilities and equipment supporting dozens of supported service organizations; and significant storm-related impacts across five of the six schools within the Diocese. This situation has created an unprecedented challenge and was a driver for the Diocese’s decision to seek outside expert assistance.
“It is critical that our many parishes, schools and service entities get the help they need to return as soon as possible, so that we can continue to provide needed services and spiritual support in our communities,” said The Most Reverend Bishop Glen John Provost, M.A., D.D., who oversees the activities and spiritual health of the Diocese of Lake Charles. “Our decision to hire DCMC Partners and The Lemoine Company after a considered, competitive process that involved many qualified firms, will help us begin our recovery process to fully restore our Diocese for today, as well as tomorrow.”

DCMC Partners is a public safety and crisis management consulting firm, bringing more than 25 years of disaster recovery leadership to help clients restore their services, rebuild, and maximize resources for recovery. They have helped States, local governments, hospitals, utilities, schools, and other organizations secure, manage, and retain well over $30 billion in FEMA and other recovery funding, plus billions more in insurance resources. The Lemoine Company, LLC is a top-400 commercial construction firm that specializes in project management, disaster recovery coordination, and construction management services. Both companies are headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana.

August Wellness Champion – Joseph Richard

We’d like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion of the Month for August – Joseph Richard!

For those of you who don’t know, Joseph has been with Lemoine since the beginning. He started as an Operator in 1986. He will reach 35 years of service with Lemoine next year. Throughout his career, he has worked on most of the Lafayette projects but is currently working on our LHC project.

To stay healthy, Joseph attempts to make healthy decisions and “eat right” as much as possible. He exercises and rides his bike often, sometimes 8 to 16 miles per weekend.

When asking Joseph what motivates him to stay active and healthy, he says he wants to continue to live a healthy and productive life. He has always been involved in exercising since he was a child.

Joseph began this journey by riding his bike as a habit instead of as a forced activity. He finds it relaxing and allows him to unwind after a long day. Joseph believes that the key to a healthy lifestyle starts with exercise, as much as you are able for as long as you are able.

Awesome job, Joseph! We are so proud of you! Keep striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

July Wellness Champion – Vanessa Jarrell

We’d like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion of the Month for July – Vanessa Jarrell!

For those of you who don’t know, Vanessa came to Lemoine through a temp service due to Hurricane Katrina damaging her home and her work, which allowed her to purchase property in Breaux Bridge. She became full-time at Lemoine in January of 2006. In March of 2013, she left to return to the oil field industry. We are happy that she rejoined the Lemoine Family in March of 2019. She is currently working in our Infrastructure Division as Special Projects Assistant.

To stay healthy, Vanessa starts her day around 4:30am to walk 2 miles. Throughout the day, she drinks lots of water, eats healthy meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and does P-90X or T-25 trainings in the evenings. She ends her night around 9:00pm with a 4-mile walk/run.

When asking Vanessa what motivates her to stay active and healthy, she says “I have always been an active person. I’m very athletic and competitive. What motivates me the most is my mom who fought a 27-year battle with cancer. She focused on her health and eating right along with exercise, even while going through Chemo. Still today when things get tough, I picture her walking those 5K walks to support Miles Perret when she had just completed Chemo the day before. She never quit nor complained about her circumstance! Her positive attitude and giving heart are what drive me each day along with my husband, Scott, who is my biggest supporter”.

Vanessa’s journey has allowed her to lose 25 pounds and 21 ¼ total inches! She shares that she feels amazing, has unlimited energy, and does not require as much sleep. Vanessa’s advice on living a healthy lifestyle is “it starts with you getting up, taking that first step, and just DOING IT! Take care of your body and it will take care of you!”

Awesome job, Vanessa! We are so proud of you! Keep striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

Ochsner St. Tammany Cancer Center Topping Out

On July 16, Lemoine joined Ochsner leaders and community officials to celebrate the Topping Out of Ochsner’s Cancer Center in Covington, LA.
The traditional ceremony takes place in recognition of a project’s last beam being put into place.
The new $30+ million medical center spans 73,500 SF and sits on an approximate 8-acre site. Construction is slated to be completed in April of 2021.

Groundbreaking at Oceans Baton Rouge

On July 9th, we dug in with Oceans Healthcare, state, and community leaders to mark the start of construction that will end the long-term vacancy of the New Era Medical Office Complex on Howell Boulevard in Baton Rouge.  Oceans’ newest location will provide inpatient hospital and group therapy outpatient services, creating over 85 jobs within the area.

Working in partnership with the Parish of East Baton Rouge, Mayors Office, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and Oceans Healthcare, New Era Partners acquired the former surgical hospital and Medical Office Building located in North Baton Rouge that has been closed since 2016. The acquisition and capital investment by New Era Partners on behalf of Oceans Healthcare will convert the surgical hospital into a 40-bed behavioral hospital that will become a center of excellence for geriatric mental and behavioral healthcare in the greater Baton Rouge market. In addition, the Medical Office Building will be utilized for outpatient behavioral services and include local providers in the North Baton Rouge community. Anticipated completion of the hospital conversion is January 2021. Providers in the community will begin to access the Medical Office Building by April 2020.

Earlier this year, Lemoine completed Oceans Behavioral Hospital Hammond, a 32-bed facility which provides inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment options for geriatric patients located along the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in the greater New Orleans market.
