October Wellness Champion – Pamela Gilbeau

We’d like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion of the Month for October – Pamela Guilbeau!

For those of you who don’t know, Pamela started her journey with Lemoine in January of 2014 as an Accounting Assistant and soon became AP/Payroll Administrator. Since then, she has transitioned into Staff Accountant in the Lafayette Office.

To stay healthy, Pam exercises daily, even if just for 30 minutes. She shares “exercise is vital to not only your physical health, but your mental health. I find that exercising also keeps me motivated to make healthier food choices throughout the day. By staying active and making changes to the food I eat, I have been able to lose 20 pounds in two months!”

When asking Pam what motivates her to stay active and healthy, she says her daughter, Kyla, is a big reason that she wants to be healthy. Her overall motivation is to have her body feel at its best. “I enjoy having more energy every day and having clothes fit better is a plus too!”

Pamela shares that her weight has always fluctuated her whole life, but recently she became uncomfortable with the amount of weight she had gained. She began going to the gym again and has made friends with people there that help to motivate her and hold her accountable. “It truly does enhance your workout experience when you keep positive/ uplifting people around you. I make substitutions for healthier items when it comes to eating, but allow myself to indulge in the food I love ever so often”.

Pam’s advice to living a healthy lifestyle is to stay focused on your goals, even on the days when you’re tired and unmotivated. The opportunity to make a change in your life is always available and you are the only person that can hold yourself back from your full potential!

Awesome job, Pam! We are so proud of you! Keep striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

September Wellness Champion – Michael Ferguson

We’d like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion of the Month for September – Michael Ferguson!

For those of you who don’t know, Michael started his journey with Lemoine in January of 2016 as a Project Manager/Estimator in the Municipal Division.

To stay healthy, Michael limits his carbohydrate intake. He mentions that in Louisiana, it’s not an easy task. His advice is to “look over restaurant menus and choose healthy options and try to avoid fried foods or meals served over a bed of rice”.

When asking Michael what motivates him to stay active and healthy, here’s what he said “The three things that motivate me to stay healthy are my family, myself, and Lemoine. To be able to keep up with my four boys playing outside is one of my biggest motivations. The physical and mental benefits of working out has motivated me. Lemoine is the first company that I have worked for that encourages employees to become and stay healthier”.

Michael’s journey began about three years ago when he discovered he had a gluten allergy. Due to this discovery, he had to cut out a majority of unhealthy carbohydrates in his diet. Not long after deciding to live a healthier life, he began exercising. Since then, he now works out between 3-4 days a week.

His advice to others about living a healthy lifestyle is that “…it’s not easy. You must start making small changes to your lifestyle and keep building on them. You may have setbacks through different phases of your life, but you keep pushing forward, and strive to be your best.

We are extremely proud of you Michael! Continue striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

August Wellness Champion – Samantha Huffman

We would like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion for the Month of August- Samantha Huffman!

For those of you who don’t know, Samantha started working at Lemoine June 24, 2019 as an Estimator in the Commercial East Division – New Orleans.

We asked Samantha what is something she does every day to stay healthy. She said, “I move as much as possible. CrossFit five to six times per week. I keep my nutrition in check by meal prepping every Sunday and calculating my macronutrients for every meal. I strive for at least 800 grams of fruit and vegetables per day, limit the starchy carbs, and eat as much protein as I can.”

When asked what motivates her to stay healthy, Samantha said, “My career keeps me primarily at a desk. Desk jobs have been linked to major health conditions like high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Getting active for at least one hour a day to reverse the negative effects of eight hours of inactivity really keeps me motivated after work.”

When asked how she began this journey she said, “I did competitive martial arts and soccer growing up and enjoyed working out regularly, but after college, life gets busy and my activity and nutrition took a backseat to work and an active social life. After struggling to self-motivate my workout routines, I signed up for CrossFit and got serious in June 2018. Since then, I am down 60lbs and surrounded by the most positive and supportive group of friends I’ve ever met.”

Samantha’s advice would be to “Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you. The people around you should love and support your decisions to be healthier. Surround yourself with people who see your true potential and with those who motivate you to be the best person you can be.”

Congratulations Samantha! We are extremely proud of you! Continue striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!

July Wellness Champion – Cain Menard

We would like to recognize our Lemoine Wellness Champion for the Month of July- Cain Menard!

For those of you who don’t know, Cain started working at Lemoine 6 months ago as a project engineer. He is currently working with Eric Simcoe and Jonathan Scott on the Ferguson Warehouse project.

We asked Cain what is something he does every day to stay healthy. He said, “My healthy lifestyle is built on a foundation of consistent routines. I wake up at 4:15 every morning to CrossFit train for an hour or two. Along with regular exercise, I meal prep and track my macros; between 170-190 grams of protein and carbs and 70-80 grams of fat per day. Just as important as diet and exercise is rest and recovery. I make sure to get 7 hours of sleep a night at the very least, prioritizing sleep over going out or watching Netflix. Most nights I’m in bed by 8:30!”

When asked what motivates him to stay healthy, Cain said, “What motivates me to stay healthy and active are my personal goals. I’m competing in the Ragin Games, a CrossFit competition, at the end of the month, and hope to make competition a regular thing. In my experience, a healthy and active lifestyle is also an important part of maintaining a level head. When I’ve been consistent with my diet, exercise, and rest I generally feel better about myself, and all around happier. Sticking with a rigid routine has decreased my stress and anxiety because it simply eliminates analysis paralysis. What am I going to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? What time will I wake up? What will I do once I get off of work? What will I watch on Netflix? All of these little decisions throughout the day were already made when I planned the entire week out on Sunday. All that’s left is to just do it.”

Cain started getting serious about his health in his second year of college after putting on that freshman 25. Cain’s advice to living a healthy lifestyle is that it all starts with a routine!

Congratulations Cain! We are extremely proud of you! Continue striving to be a healthier version of yourself every day!
