Each October, we recognize Careers in Construction Month — a time to spotlight the incredible opportunities that exist within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. After five decades of building across the Gulf South, we might be biased, but we believe there’s no career more rewarding than one in construction.
Whether on a jobsite, behind a computer, or managing contracts, careers in construction offer tangible impact — the kind you can see, touch, and point to with pride and say, “I built that.”
In the Field
At the heart of every project are our field employees — the skilled professionals who bring drawings to life. They build the structures where we live, work, learn, and gather; they pave the roads that connect our communities; and they construct the treatment plants that deliver clean water to our homes.
This hands-on work offers a level of fulfillment few careers can match. Every beam raised, every foundation poured, and every building completed stands as a testament to craftsmanship and teamwork. Field professionals see the direct results of their labor and play a vital role in shaping the world around them.
LEAP Into Your Career
Many of our team members begin their journey through Construction Management programs at universities and colleges across the region. To support their transition into the industry, LEMOINE developed LEAP — the LEMOINE Engineering Advancement Program, a hands-on training experience that provides a comprehensive introduction to construction management.
Through structured rotations, LEAP participants gain exposure to the key disciplines of Estimating, Project Management, and Field Supervision. Each participant is paired with a personal coach who provides one-on-one guidance, feedback, and mentorship throughout the process.
After completing the program, participants and their coaches evaluate strengths and interests to identify the best long-term path — often stepping into roles such as Estimator, Assistant Project Manager, or Assistant Superintendent. For many, LEAP is just the beginning of a career path that can lead all the way to Vice President and beyond.
Beyond the Build
When people think of construction, they often picture cranes, hard hats, and blueprints. But behind every successful project stands a wide network of professionals working in specialized roles that keep our operations running smoothly.
From legal and finance to safety and technology, the AEC industry offers countless opportunities beyond the jobsite. Here are just a few of the unique career paths that make LEMOINE thrive:
Legal Eagles
Every construction project carries opportunity — and risk. That’s where our Legal Department comes in. Led by General Counsel, Amanda Mesa, this team safeguards LEMOINE by reviewing contracts, resolving disputes, and ensuring compliance at every level. Their work ensures that projects run efficiently and ethically, allowing our field and management teams to focus on what they do best: building.
Numbers Ninjas
Behind every crane and construction crew stands a dedicated Finance and Accounting Team — the backbone of our business operations. Led by CFO Will McCulloch and Vice President Erika Fortenberry, this group ensures LEMOINE remains financially strong and positioned for success.
Because of their expertise, LEMOINE has the capacity to bond and deliver the largest projects in Louisiana, while still maintaining the flexibility to serve our smaller clients. Their work ensures stability, accuracy, and accountability — and yes, they’re also the reason everyone gets paid on time.
AIA, CM-BIM, and Beyond
If you recognize these combinations of letters, you might be drawn to design and technology. Many architects and engineers are discovering exciting roles in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) — using digital tools to virtually construct a project before a shovel ever hits the ground.
At LEMOINE, our Director of VDC, Judson Terry, leads a team that builds digital models to identify potential conflicts between systems like mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. By resolving these challenges in the virtual environment, the team helps eliminate costly rework later — saving time and resources for our clients.
Safety First, Always
At LEMOINE, safety isn’t just a policy — it’s a promise. Led by Vice President of Safety, Greg Landry, our Safety Department ensures every employee, client, and trade partner returns home safely at the end of each day.
From preconstruction planning to project closeout, our safety professionals are deeply embedded in every aspect of our work. They develop site-specific safety plans, conduct training and inspections, and continuously monitor compliance to maintain our culture of accountability and care.
Through proactive planning and ongoing education, we empower every person on-site to make safety their top priority. Because at LEMOINE, our goal is simple yet powerful: everyone goes home safe, every single day.
Wait — There’s More
The AEC industry is filled with possibilities that extend far beyond what most people imagine. At LEMOINE, we’re proud to offer fulfilling careers in areas such as Human Resources, Information Technology, Administration, Marketing, and Business Development, among others.
Our team is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and experiences — each bringing a unique perspective that contributes to our shared success. Whether you’re a numbers person, a creative thinker, a problem-solver, or a hands-on builder, there’s a place for you in construction.
